In this video Bob Klein Lankhorst introduces Bodemliefde (Dutch for: For the Love of Soils). Bodemliefde is a consultancy firm that advises farms on intelligent solutions for optimizing land use. These solutions are designed to increase on-farm efficiency, climate adaption and mitigation, and yields.
On invitation of Royal Eijkelkamp the minister of Planning and Development of Benin Mr Abdoulaye Bio-Tchané) has visited the premises of Royal Eijkelkamp in Giesbeek, 2 full days 6 and 7 January. The purpose of the visit was the introduction of the NL-FSA and the WE (Water Entrepreneur) Project
of the Eijkelkamp Foundation in the North of Benin.
The northern parts of Ghana (and Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria) are facing problems induced by climate change, drought and the rough rain. In these areas there is a large need for food, for both people and livestock, but the location, climate variability, human activity in close proximity to waterbodies and a lack of technology and knowhow create a challenging environment for sustainable agriculture in West-Africa.
Nature doesn’t need people. People need nature. Our food, water, health and jobs all rely on the health of the planets ecosystems.
Looking to the future, it won’t be easy to feed the world in a changing climate, and farmers will not be able to do it alone. Making food production climate-smart requires investments in agriculture, knowledge of locally suitable and harmonized policies.
